Little Man Tate is a 1991 drama film in which Jodi Foster stars and makes her

directorial debut. The film tells the story of a seven -year -old child prodigy

Fred Tate, who searches for social acceptance. Dee Dee Tate, Jodi Foster, is a

single mother, a working -class woman of average intelligence bringing up her son

Fred, who shows every indication of being a genius. Fred's reading and

mathematics abilities are remarkable, and he plays the piano at concert level, but

his intellect isolates him from his public school classmates. He is picked on by

them and feels lonely and depressed. Fred really doesn't care about his

mental abilities. All he wants is to be normal and to have a friend. One day, Fred

comes to the attention of a child psychologist, Jane Greerson, who runs a

summer camp for child prodigies. She invites Fred to attend the summer

session, but Dee Dee is reluctant. She wants Fred to have a normal upbringing,

however, when no one comes to Fred's seventh birthday party, Dee Dee changes

her mind. One of the characters in the movie is a math magician with a brilliant

mind, but an annoying personality. Jane, the psychologist in the film, is a person

who knows everything about children in theory, but nothing in practice. Dee Dee, on

the other hand, doesn't know too much about the intellectual aspects of child

geniuses, but she knows her son and is fiercely protective of him. Little

Mante is a movie with true -to -life themes, well -developed characters, and strong moral

messages. It is certainly worth seeing.
