Hello everyone, welcome to the Ancient World Show.
Today we're talking about one of the seven wonders of the ancient world,
the mausoleum at Halicarnassus.
Mike Peterson, a famous archaeologist, is here with us today.
Hello, Mike.
Hello.
Mike, can you tell us some things about this monument?
Yes, of course.
The mausoleum of Halicarnassus was a tomb for the Persian king,
Moistler, sent his wife.
It was a huge white building, and it was 45 metres tall.
Moistler's wife decided to build the tomb after he died in the 4th century BC.
Wow, where was the tomb?
It was in the ancient city of Halicarnassus.
Today it is the modern Turkish city of Bodrum.
Can we visit this amazing monument?
No, you can't. The monument fell down after a lot of earthquakes.
That was very interesting, Mike. Thank you very much.
