Listening. 7 .2. You are going to hear a conversation between a radio programmer and a festival

organization committee member. Listen to their conversation and answer the questions below.

Welcome to our radio program. Today we are going to introduce you a very interesting festival.

The name of the festival is the Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling Festival. Yes, you hear

me right. It's a cheese rolling festival. And people really run after big cheese wheels

down a hill. And our guest is a member of the festival organization committee. So welcome

to our program, Ms. Thompson. Thank you very much, Martin. It's nice to be here.

So my first question is about the location of the festival. Where does it take place?

The festival takes place in the south of England, Gloucestershire. There is a beautiful

big hill in Gloucestershire and we organise the festival on that hill. Who can participate

in the festival? Anyone can participate. There are no applications, registration fees

or qualifications. Participants don't need to do anything to join the festival. They

don't need to pay any fees. People say this is the strangest festival in history. Why is

it strange? What makes it strange? Well, it's strange because the participants run after

big rolling cheese wheels down the hill. They run very fast to catch the cheese wheels.

The first runner to get to the bottom of the hill wins the contest. That sounds really interesting.

What is the prize for the winner? The winner gets different kinds of cheese. Great. Are

there any disadvantages of the competition? Yes, there are. Unfortunately, it's not a

safe competition. You can get injured or break your arm or leg while running down the hill.

Many contestants are injured every year. Oh, that's too bad. My next question is about

accommodation. Where do the participants stay in Gloucestershire? There are several

hotels, inns and cottages for visitors in Gloucestershire. Some hotels even have views

of the cheese rolling hill. How do the participants arrive at the festival area? Travelers can

arrive at the festival area by car or by the local bus schedule. They can take a bus from

the city centre to Brockworth. Then they can follow the local signs to the festival hill.

What are the other things the participants can do in Gloucestershire? The participants

can explore the beautiful countryside in this region after the cheese rolling competition.

They can take a tour of ancient museums or travel over the beautiful rolling hills and

discover ancient churches and villages. They can ride a bicycle or walk on nature's most

beautiful paths. That sounds great. Thank you so much, Miss Thompson. You're welcome.
