You are going to hear a podcast about the life of Steve Jobs, the computer genius.

Part 1.

Stephen Paul Jobs was born in 1955.

As an infant, he was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs and named Stephen Jobs.

His foster mother worked as an accountant and his father was a Coast Guard veteran and machinist.

They lived in California's Silicon Valley.

When he was a boy, he used to work on electronics in the garage with his father.

When he was at high school, he used to spend most of his time with Steve Wozniak, who was a computer guru at that time.

After high school, Jobs enrolled in Red College in Portland.

He quit college after six months and spent the next 18 months taking creative classes.

In 1974, Jobs got a job as a technician at the video game maker Atari.

While he was working there, he saved money and went to India with just a backpack.

When he came back to America, he returned to Atari and continued working there.

Then, in 1976, Jobs founded Apple with Steve Wozniak.

Jobs persuaded Wozniak to make a computer and sell it.

Therefore, together, they developed the Mac.

It was the first small computer and it was very successful commercially.

Both Jobs and Wozniak made a revolution in computer industry.

They made the computers smaller, cheaper and accessible to everyday consumers.

Jobs also built the computer on which the world wide web was created.

Jobs had a passion for style and functional perfection, which became Apple trademarks.
