Ancient Wonderworld

The pyramids of Giza are some of the most famous monuments in the world.

The Egyptians built the pyramids about 4 ,000 years ago.

100 ,000 people worked for 30 years to build them.

The pyramids were tombs for the ancient Egyptian kings, the pharaohs.

The biggest pyramid is the pyramid of chaos.

Giza, with its pyramids, is one of the most popular cities with tourists from all over the world.

The Colossus of Rhodes was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world too.

It was a huge statue of the God of the Sun, at the port of the Greek island of Rhodes.

Scientists say that it was as big as the Statue of Liberty in New York.

The people of Rhodes built this statue to thank the God of the Sun

because he helped them save their island from their enemies in the 4th century BC.

However, the statue fell down after an earthquake in 226 BC.

Another wonder of the ancient world was the lighthouse or pharaohs of Alexandria.

It was a tower in the city of Alexandria in Egypt.

In the 3rd century BC, King Ptolemy decided to build the lighthouse on the small island of Pharos near the port of Alexandria.

So the building took its name from the name of the island.

It was 140 meters tall and one of the tallest buildings in the world at that time.

The lighthouse fell down after three earthquakes between 956 and 1323 AD.
