Hello everyone. My name's Jason Thomas and today I'm going to talk about a very popular technological device.

We all use technology every day, but what are the devices that have become absolutely necessary for us?

Certainly, they are the ones that offer internet access such as laptops, tablets and of course smartphones.

Actually, smartphones are the most popular devices for going online, as 33 % of internet users prefer surfing the net on their phones.

A recent survey has shown that we spend about 2 hours online on our smartphones every day.

What is more, it is surprising how addicted people are to their smartphones.

49 % of young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 check their phones within 5 minutes after waking up,

and 42 % check their phones while they are having lunch or dinner.

Also, due to the numerous applications that smartphones offer, people don't use other devices so much anymore.

For example, they prefer using their phones to take photos rather than their digital cameras.

The same goes for GPS devices.

Users can download a GPS application on their smartphone so they don't need a GPS anymore.

However, another surprising finding from the same survey showed that the average person still spends more time watching TV

than using their laptop or smartphone.

So, even though access to information has become much easier through the internet, people still spend about 3 hours and 40 minutes every day watching TV.
