Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Learning Advice, our weekly school radio
programme for students. Every week, we invite teachers and students
to talk about different learning topics and share useful study tips.
Today's guest is our school counsellor, Miss Carter.
We also have Emily, a grade 10 student, who would like to ask for some advice
about studying more effectively.
Hello, Miss Carter. I enjoy my lessons, but I have some problems with studying.
First, I often forget new vocabulary after a few days.
Second, I get nervous before presentations, even when I'm well prepared.
Finally, I spend a lot of time studying, but I don't always know whether I'm
ready for quizzes.
Those are common problems, Emily, so don't worry.
For vocabulary, try using mind maps or colourful diagrams.
Visual learners often remember words more easily this way.
If presentations make you nervous, practice with a friend,
or take part in more role play activities.
The more you speak, the more confident you will become.
To prepare for quizzes, don't just read your notes again and again.
Summarise each topic and complete a self -assessment before the quiz.
This will help you discover which topics you still need to review.
Remember, everyone learns differently.
Some students learn by listening, and others by doing, or by studying independently.
The important thing is to find the learning strategy that works best for you,
and use it regularly.
Thank you, Miss Carter, for your helpful advice,
and thank you, Emily, for sharing your questions with us.
We hope today's programme will help all our listeners become more confident
and successful learners.
Join us again next week for another episode of learning advice.
