Read and listen to the text and do the following exercises.
Real Heroes that have changed the world.
When we check the news, we often read negative stories about bad people.
However, there are many good people whose stories we don't hear.
There are true heroes who are brave and courageous.
Regina Johar is one of these heroes.
He was a therapist in King George's Medical College in India.
He was a healthy, successful man until three robbers broke into his house and shot him.
He was badly injured during this robbery and he became paralyzed,
so he was unable to move or feel his body.
He could only use two of his fingers.
He didn't stop trying to be beneficial for the society
despite this terrible experience.
He learned typing with his two fingers
and he started a magazine named The Voice.
He wanted to help disabled people with the help of his magazine.
The voice worked well for the benefit of the disabled people.
Helen Keller is another hero who changed the ideas about disabled people.
She became blind and deaf because of an illness when she was a child.
She worked hard and learned reading and writing with the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan.
She went on to college and graduated in 1904.
She became a writer.
As a world -famous writer, she traveled the world and talked about the rights of disabled people.
During her lifetime, she received many honors.
She motivated and inspired the disabled people all around the world.
Stephen Hawking was a very successful English scientist.
The world knows him with his wheelchair because he became paralyzed at the age of 21.
He lost his abilities to move, walk and talk.
Hawking communicated with the help of a machine which could turn letters to sound.
Despite the physical problems, he never stopped working or doing research.
With his theories and books, Hawking enlightened people about many scientific facts.
He is a true hero because he showed the world that hard work can defeat destiny and change your life.
