Aziz Sanjar.

Aziz Sanjar was born on the 8th of September 1946 in Savur, Turkey.

He was the seventh child in a family of farmers in Southeast Turkey.

His parents had no education, but they considered education important for their children.

First, Aziz studied a Istanbul University, and then he went to the University of Texas

in the USA.

At present, he is a professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

In 2015, Aziz won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on DNA research.

He and his team discovered that two genes keep the cells of the human body in proper rhythm.

His research made it possible for doctors to treat many different illnesses, such as jetlag,

and also to improve various cancer treatments.

When they awarded him the Nobel Prize, Sanjar had this to say,

I was lucky enough to have parents who believed in the value of learning.

I also had excellent teachers during my years at school and university.

I thank all my family for their love and support.

If only everyone had such wonderful people to believe in them.
