Unit 10. Exercise 10. Read and listen to the dialogue.
An election at school. Mark is a new student at Brand School. Today is his second day.
Hey, Brand. How are you? You look very excited. What is happening?
Today is the election day at school.
Well, are you a candidate?
No, I am not. Who is your candidate?
Daisy, of course. Look, here is her campaign poster. She is my best friend. I support her because she is fair, nice and responsible. Also, she obeys all the rules, and her ideas are brilliant. Who do you support in the election?
I don't know anybody at this school.
Why don't you support Daisy? She never hurts people. She always asks about her opinions and respects children's rights.
Did she give us speech?
Yes, all candidates made their speeches.
What did Daisy say in her speech?
She promised to be fair, responsible, kind and helpful.
Okay. I can vote for her in the election.
Great. Let's go to the polling place. Do you know how to vote?
Of course. I write the name of my candidate on a piece of paper and fold it. Then, I put the paper into an envelope. Next, I put the envelope into the ballot box. After the election is over, they count the votes.
Yes, you're right. So we are ready. Let's go and choose our school president.
