A successful filmmaker, Sam Raimi.

Sam Raimi is one of Hollywood's most successful directors, especially with his Spider -Man films,

which he made in 2002, 2004, and 2007.

His recent movie, Oz of the Great and Powerful, 2013, has added to his popularity.

Raimi first attracted the attention of film fans with his 1981 film The Evil Dead,

a savage but humorous horror film.

Raimi became a cinema fan when he was a child.

His fascination with making films began at age 10, when his father bought him an 8mm camera.

At age 17, he began to make simple movies with his friend Bruce Campbell.

In 1978, the two young men, along with another friend, set out to make a short film.

They made a 32 -minute horror film called Within the Woods to attract the interest of producers

in hopes of getting sponsored for a full -length film.

In 1981, he succeeded and directed The Evil Dead, a low -budget full -length film.

In order to make this film, Raimi left college where he was studying English literature.

The Evil Dead attracted the interest of critics as an extraordinary horror movie

because of Raimi's distinctive style.

The success of The Evil Dead 2, 1987, led Raimi to write and direct a superhero thriller,

Dark Man, in 1990.

In 1993, Raimi directed a comedy horror film and a comedy western in 1995.

In the next five years, he directed a drama, a thriller, and a horror film.

As a producer, Raimi also had big hits on TV in the 1990s, with Hercules,

The Legendary Journeys, and Zina, The Warrior Princess.

As an actor, he has made several appearances on TV and in films.
