the world's longest pizza.
On 18th May, 2016, a team of 100 pizza chefs
made the world's longest pizza in Naples.
They set a new world record with this pizza.
The pizza was more than a mile long.
It stretched along the waterfront of Naples.
It was exactly 1 ,853 .88 meters long.
In the team, there were Italian chefs and chefs from Australia, China, Japan,
and other distant countries.
The chefs worked together for 11 hours.
They used 2 ,000 kilograms of flour, 1 ,600 kilograms of tomatoes,
2 ,000 kilograms of mozzarella cheese,
200 liters of oil,
30 kilograms of fresh basil,
and 1 ,500 liters of water.
All of these ingredients came from the markets in Naples.
To bake the pizza, the chefs used five wood -fired ovens.
25 people controlled them.
There were four wheels under each oven.
All of the ovens had four openings.
Two of them were for putting the pizza in and taking it out.
The other two openings were for adding wood.
The pizza was on a long, single steel baking tray.
Hundreds of visitors gathered along the waterfront to watch the chefs.
When the chefs finished cooking the pizza, visitors could take slices of it.
The chefs gave away a big part of the pizza to the Italian Red Cross.
They also handed out slices to homeless and needy people.
The pizza entered the Guinness World Records.
60 pizza chefs in Milan, Italy set the previous Guinness World Record last year.
They set out to create a mile -long pizza.
They used two tons of tomato sauce and half a ton of mozzarella cheese.
But their pizza was 1 ,595 meters long,
a little less than a mile.
0 .9911 miles.
