It is a group of very big waves. It often happens after an earthquake or a volcanic eruption.
These waves can be very high. They can be higher than a 10 -story building. They can move
faster than a jet plane. They can travel for two kilometers on land. Many of them happen
in the Pacific Ocean. They usually happen very quickly in many parts of the world. In
fact, most of them are less than 30 seconds. The ground starts to shake. Buildings begin
to move. The movements under the earth's surface cause this disaster. The stronger ones
can destroy buildings, bridges, roads, and railroad tracks. This is a big wind. It moves very fast.
It often makes a long cloud. This cloud looks like an ice cream cone. The name of this cloud
is funnel cloud. This strong wind can destroy things like cars, buildings, boats, and trees.
All things fly away in the cloud. To be safe from this big wind, people often go to the basement
in their buildings. Many people like to ski and snowboard. They do these sports in the mountains
with a lot of snow. The bad thing is that there can be a natural disaster in the mountains.
First, a lot of snow in ice come together. Then, the snow and the ice start to move down a mountain.
The snow and the ice get bigger and bigger. This can destroy everything on its way down the
mountain.
