Oz The Great and Powerful.

Oz The Great and Powerful is a 2013 fantasy film directed by Sam Raimi, who is best known

for directing the superhero film Dark Man and the Spider -Man trilogy.

The film stars James Franco as Oscar Diggs and Mila Kunis as Theodora, who later turns

into the Wicked Witch.

Oz The Great and Powerful had its premiere in Hollywood on February 14, 2013.

It opened on March 5 in 3 ,912 cinemas in the U .S.

It was a big success.

It earned $235 million in the U .S. and $258 million in other countries.

$149 million was earned during its opening weekend worldwide.

The film tells the events that happened 20 years before the story in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

Both films have been adapted from L. Frank Baum's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, published in 1900.

In Oz The Great and Powerful, new characters were added, while others were changed to better fit the film.

One of the main characters in the film is Oscar Diggs, a magician in a circus in Kansas in 1905.

He is a devious, selfish and unreliable man.

While escaping from the circus one day, he jumps into a hot air balloon, gets caught in a big storm,

and finds himself in the Land of Oz.

There, he runs across three witches, Theodora, Evenora, and Glinda.

The inhabitants of the Land of Oz mistakenly think Oscar is a wizard, who has been sent from the sky to save them from the Wicked Witch.

Oscar doesn't tell them the truth, because he wants to be rich.

By using his magic tricks, he turns himself into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz and a better man.
