Egyptians believed in many gods, and they called their kings Pharaoh.
They believed the Pharaoh was a living god, so they developed a theory of theerocracy,
in which the government was ruled by religious leaders.
The Egyptian king was the absolute ruler and the owner of all the land, water, people,
etc. in his or her kingdom.
