But nature creates much more amazing wonders.

Mount Everest is one of the most famous wonders of the natural world,

as it is the highest mountain on Earth, with a height of 8 ,848 metres.

George Roberts, a famous scientist, is here with us today to give us some information about it.

George, where is Mount Everest?

Mount Everest is in Asia, between Nepal and Tibet, and it is part of the Himalayas.

Who were the first people to climb it?

Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first people to climb to the top on the 29th of May 1953.

After them, a lot of people climbed Mount Everest.

Is it dangerous to climb to the top?

Well, it can be dangerous. There is little oxygen at the top and it's very cold.

It is usually windy and snowy.

There aren't any plants or animals there.

Did you know that quite often people die when they try to climb to the top?

Really? Oh, I didn't know that.

Yes, however, more than 800 people climb to the top every year.

To get to the top, you must be a trained climber and have special equipment with you.

Then you can enjoy the most amazing view in the world.
