The Inca Civilization. Between 1 ,438 CE and 1 ,532 CE, the Inca people blossomed from a small tribe into the South America's largest empire in the areas of present -day Ecuador, Peru and Chile.

And the city of Cusco. They also did more than that. Civilians enjoyed freeze -dried foods and an effective mail system too.

But the spread of influenza and smallpox killed a lot of people and the nation lost its power.

The Maya Civilization. The ancient Maya civilization flourished in Central America in present -day Mexico from around 2 ,600 BCE.

They were culturally rich. Today they are mainly known for their solar calendars. They also built pyramids.

Several cities had unique specialties such as pyramids, great tombs and detailed hieroglyphs.

Nobody knows what caused the collapse of such a well -developed society around 800 CE.

They didn't disappear completely because millions of their descendants exist across the world and they continue to speak several Mayan languages.

The Chateauhuyuk settlement. Turkey is home to the world's most well -known Stone Age city.

It is important because people built homes and became settlers after a long nomadic life.

They focused on farming so they chose a waterway on the Konya Plain in southern Anatolia and settled in there around 7 ,500 BCE.

Chateauhuyuk had no streets or footpaths. People built houses right up against each other.

Their homes were unusual because they didn't have any doors.

The people lived in them travelled over the towns roofs and entered their homes through the halls in the roofs.

The reason for their disappearance around 5 ,700 BCE still remains a mystery.
