Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is an amazing place for millions of people. In 2007, Machu Picchu
became one of the new seven wonders of the world. This amazing city is in Peru. It is
7 ,000 feet above sea level. It is the most familiar icon of the Inca civilization. The
Incas built Machu Picchu around 1450. Machu Picchu was a sacred religious site for the Inca
leaders. Nearly 1 ,200 people lived in the area. It was difficult to live in that area
because it was far away from the other cities. Because it was a remote area, people traveled
great distances. Thousands of people travel to Machu Picchu every year to see one of the
world's most famous wonders. Hikers and tourists think Machu Picchu is magical and amazing.
Many people say the area is like a paradise. They are fascinated and amazed. However, a trip
to Machu Picchu is very expensive. Train tickets from Cusco cost $43 and a round -trip bus ticket
to the Inca ruins costs another $14. However, if you don't want the bus trip, you can walk up
and down for free. The climb is exhausting and takes about 90 minutes. In other words,
it is difficult climb. In Machu Picchu, there is no information about the ruins on the site.
This is another disadvantage for the tourists. But still, it is a must -see place.
