Hey everyone, I'm Rachel. I'm in Thailand this week and I'll tell you about some social

norms that only locals in Thailand can understand. Are you ready to blend in like a local on your

next visit to Thailand? Let's have a look at them then. It is widely believed in Thailand

that dressing in a certain color according to the days of the week will bring you good luck.

That's why each day of the week is assigned a particular color. For example, today is Wednesday

and Thai people wear green today. Monday is for yellow. Tuesday is for pink. Thursday is for orange

and so on. It's quite interesting to see people around wearing all the same color. Wherever you

look at on Fridays, for instance, you see blue. On Saturdays, you see purple. And on Sundays,

you see red all around. The next one is about their greeting style. Thai people put their hands

together and bow their heads in order for their nose to touch their hands. This is called why.

It resembles the Japanese bow. The higher the hands are, the more respectful the greeting is.

The third thing is that Thai people like dining together with their friends or family members.

Not attending such gatherings for no reason is considered impolite. This is very much the norm in

Thailand. So if you are invited to a dinner, for example, try not to refuse it. Fourthly,

because people's feet are considered the most disrespectful part of the body, Thai people take

and especially homes. Besides, you shouldn't point your feet in the direction of someone else

because it's considered impolite. And as the head is the most important part of the body,

do not touch someone else's head. And lastly, the elderly are very important to Thai people,

so they always respect them no matter what.
