I am very excited because this Saturday is the beginning of the Chinese New Year.

It is an important festival for the Chinese.

We celebrate it for 15 days and we don't go to school or to work in the first week of the festival.

Before the Chinese New Year starts, we clean and decorate our houses with rate paper cuttings,

paintings, flowers and trees.

We buy new red clothes.

On the first day of the festival, there are fireworks shows in the streets at night.

We watch them and sing songs and we usually don't sleep that night.

During the festival, we visit our relatives and friends.

We have big family meals together.

All people give children money in red envelopes.

And on the last day of the festival, we have a family dinner together.

And after that, we walk in parades in the streets.
