The Magic Swan Geese

A young girl and her little brother live in a small house in the forest with their parents.

Their mother and father work in the town.

They are a happy family.

One day the mother calls her daughter.

Your father and I are going to the town.

She says, look after your brother.

Be careful and don't go out of the garden.

We will do the shopping and we will also buy a dress for you and a pair of trousers for your brother.

Okay mum, says the girl, don't worry.

The mother and the father go to the town.

The girl gets out of the house.

She puts her brother on the grass.

Then she leaves her little brother behind and goes out of the garden.

And she plays games outside the garden.

A flock of Magic Swan Geese flies over the garden and sees the little boy.

They pick him up and fly away.

The girl comes back to the garden but her brother isn't there.

She looks for her brother everywhere in the house but she can't find him anywhere.

He isn't in the house or in the garden.

Cries the girl.

Where is my brother?

She is very sad.

There are tears in her eyes.

I must...

She says, she runs out of the house and looks at the sky.

She sees the flock of Magic Swan Geese flying with her brother.

She wants to follow the Magic Swan Geese but they fly away and disappear among the clouds.

The girl can't see them anymore.

Go!

Thanks the girl.

She looks around.

She sees a brick oven.

Hello brick oven.

She says, where do the Magic Swan Geese fly?

The brick oven looks at the girl and says,

I have got a pie for you.

Eat my pie and I can tell you.

I don't eat pies.

Says the girl.

The brick oven doesn't help her.

The girl starts running.

She sees a tall apple tree and she stops in front of it.

Hello apple tree, she says.

Where do the Magic Swan Geese fly?

The apple tree looks at the girl and says,

I have got red apples for you.

Eat my apples and I can tell you.

I don't eat red apples.

Says the girl.

The apple tree doesn't help her.

The girl starts running again.

She sees a milky river and she stops.

Hello milky river, she says.

Where do the Magic Swan Geese fly?

The milky river looks at the girl and says,

I have got some pudding for you.

Eat my pudding and I can tell you.

I don't eat pudding.

Says the girl.

The milky river doesn't help her.

The girl runs in the forest all day.

It is dark now.

She is scared.

Where can I go now?

She thinks.

Then she sees a little hut on the hill.

It has got a little door and some little windows.

There is a bench in front of the hut.

The girl's brother is on the bench.

He is playing with a golden apple.

The girl sees an old witch near her brother.

The witch is very ugly and she has got long, sharp nails.

The girl gets very close to the hut.

Who are you?

She asks the witch.

The witch looks at the girl and says,

I'm Baba Yaga.

This is my house.

Tell me, little girl, why are you here?

This little boy is my brother.

I was looking for him, but I'm lost in the forest.

Says the girl, and I am hungry.

Can I stay here tonight?

Yes, of course.

Says Baba Yaga.

Come in.

Baba Yaga, the girl, and her brother get in the hut.

Sit next to the fireplace, says Baba Yaga loudly,

and wait for me here.

Then she goes out to the room.

The girl looks around and sees a mouse in front of the fireplace.

Hi, little girl.

Says the mouse.

I'm hungry.

Give me some porridge, please.

The girl sees a bowl of porridge on the table.

She takes a spoon and gives some porridge to the mouse.

Says the mouse.

You are very kind.

Now listen to me.

Baba Yaga is making a fire now.

She is going to cook you and eat you.

Take your brother and run away.

The girl is horrified.

She picks up her brother and goes out of the hut in panic.

They run as fast as they can.

Baba Yaga comes into the room.

She can't see the two children.

She gets extremely angry.

Magic swanghis?

She shouts, go and catch the girl and her brother.

The magic swanghis start flying after the children.

The girl and her brother run through the forest.

They see the Milky River.

Hello, Milky River.

Says the girl.

Please hide us.

Eat my pudding and I can hide you.

Says the Milky River.

The girl eats some pudding quickly.

The Milky River hides the children under its river banks.

The magic swanghis can't see them.

The girl runs again.

Her brother is in her arms.

Then she hears a noise.

It's the magic swanghis.

The girl sees the apple tree and cries.

Hello, apple tree.

Please hide us.

Eat my red apples and I can hide you.

Says the apple tree.

The girl eats an apple quickly.

The apple tree hides the children under its branches and leaves.

The magic swanghis can't see them.

The girl takes her brother in her arms and starts running again.

Then she sees the magic swanghis over them.

She is very scared.

This time she runs to the brick oven.

Hello, brick oven.

She says.

Please hide us.

Eat my pie and I can hide you.

Says the brick oven.

The girl puts a piece of pie in her mouth quickly.

Then she gets inside the oven with her brother.

The magic swanghis can't see them.

The magic swanghis fly for a long time.

Finally, they become exhausted.

They return to the old witch's hut.

The children come home.

Their mother and father hug them.

From then on, the girl never leaves her brother alone
