Unit 1. C. Listening. B. Listen and choose the correct option.

Good morning class. Well, summer is over and our students are back again.

I hope you are all fine and ready for today's first lesson.

This is your first day at Skills Power Language Center, so welcome you all.

First, I want to introduce myself. My name is Thomas Lopez and I'm your

reading skill teacher. Every year, hundreds of students come to Skills Power Language Center

to practice and improve their language skills. Language learning process never

ends. In our language school, we basically teach three major skills every semester.

That means this semester you are studying just three courses. These are reading,

writing, and speaking courses. I'm teaching reading skills to you this

semester. Then what is the purpose of this course? Why are you here? Well, you are

here to improve your reading skills of course. In this course, I always try to

teach strategies to my students and help them understand a reading passage easily.

After this course, you can understand the text you read easily. For example, one of

the techniques is guessing the meanings of new words. When you use the context

clues and guess the meanings of new words, you don't always need a dictionary.

And how can you improve these techniques? Of course, you must practice. Practice makes

better. I mean, you must always read, read, and read. Don't forget to read books,

magazines, or newspaper every day. Well, that's all for now. Let's have a break.

We'll continue next hour.
