Match the following titles with the paragraphs.

The lion is a large, strong and wild animal.

Lions are called the kings of the jungle,

and they have a real beauty and strength.

They are the largest cats in Africa.

They live on the west coast of Africa,

on the mountains in the east of Kenya and Tanzania.

The colours of lions are different,

but they usually have light yellow brown coats.

Male and female lions look different.

Males are taller and heavier than female ones.

Both have 30 teeth.

African lions are approximately 1 .4 to 2 metres long,

and their weight is about 120 to 191 kilograms.

They are sociable animals,

and they live in family groups.

These groups have almost 15 members.

Females do almost all of the hunting,

and they are good at teamwork.

Many of these females are faster than male ones.

Males cannot hunt a lot because they are slow and big.

Other animals can easily see the male lions and escape.

In addition, young lions spend their time playing together,

and this helps them develop their strategies for hunting.

Lions can survive only by eating meat.

African lions eat large animals like antelopes,

zebras, goats and buffaloes.

If they are really hungry, they also eat small animals,

such as some birds or reptiles.

5.

Today, the number of lions in the world is lower than the one in the past.

Today, there are about 21 ,000 lions in Africa,

but in the 1950s, the number was much higher.

Now, they are on the endangered animal list.

They may not survive in the future.
