1. I read different types of text in English.

2. I read for fun in English.

3. I find interesting things to read.

4. I choose texts to learn about my favorite subjects.

5. I look for texts to read, not very easy or not very difficult.

To understand what I read.

6. I go over a paragraph to understand the main idea.

7. I look for important facts.

8. I sometimes read texts more than once.

9. I look at the pictures and the words under the pictures.

10. I look at the headings.

11. I try to think about what will come next in a reading passage.

12. I stop to think about what I understand from my reading.

13. I underline the important words and sentences.

14. I highlight parts of a text in different colors to understand and remember it easily.

15. I check to see how much I understood.

When I don't understand what I read.

16. I guess the new words by getting help from the other sentences in the paragraph.

17. I use a dictionary to find the meanings of the new words.

18. I ask for help from a teacher or a parent.
