Reading ring 9. Unit 9. Invitations and celebrations. Page 146. Shopping time for the parties.

Read the dialogue and do the exercises B, C and D.

Let's prepare a shopping list for the farewell and Thanksgiving party. What are the people's preferences of food?

Some of them sent emails and some of them attended the meeting today. Nearly 20 people are going to come, so we need to prepare enough food for more than 20 people.

Half of them prefer the traditional menu. The rest prefer beef and chicken. Only Rita prefers fish.

Maybe we should call and ask her to choose another menu. Then we don't need to buy fish.

We can't prepare so much food. How is that possible? We aren't chefs.

Don't worry. I have just found a professional chef to prepare the meals. We just need to make a shopping list and send it to him.

That's great. At home, I have got enough water, soda and Coke for everyone. We don't need to buy more. We don't need to buy any lemonade either.

I have got a lot of lemons at home. The chef can make some lemonade for us.

Do you have any sugar? We also need a lot of sugar for the lemonade.

I have totally forgotten that. Please remember to add three kilos of sugar to the list.

Do we need any gravy or cranberry sauce? There is enough sauce in the fridge.

We have to buy some turkey, chicken and beef. What about the vegetables?

How many kilos of potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers should we buy?

Can you add two kilos of each to the list? I don't have any vegetables at home.

How much lettuce, bread and rice do we need?

There is some rice at home. You don't need to add that to the list. Please write a head of lettuce and enough corn bread for everyone.

What about cheese, garlic and yogurt? We have some cheese and a little garlic. I guess they are enough.

Could you add some yogurt to the list? The list is ready. Let's go to your home to think about the decorations.
